If Congress fails to pass a six-month extension of higher federal Medicaid assistance to states, our state will lose $483 million in emergency stimulus funding. Governor Gregoire estimates that more than 6,000 Washingtonians will lose their jobs. Health care programs like Basic Health will be on the chopping block, and tens of thousands of people in our state could lose health coverage.
